Obituary for Laura V Nesmith

Life Reflections
During the early morning hours on Sunday, October 28, 2018, when a candle in our lives shone bright for the last time, Laura quietly slipped behind in the curtain of time. She had a loving and joyful personality that would warm hearts. She was loved and adored by everyone that knew her.

Laura Verlinda Nesmith was born February 27, 1962, in Kingstree, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Victor and Eileen Brown Nesmith.

After living in South Carolina for a few years, Laura relocated to Newark, NJ where she received her education. After several years she moved back to South Carolina, where she attended Bethlehem AME Church. She worked as a supervisor at several hotel chains in Myrtle Beach, SC. Once she decided she wanted to fulfill her passion for cooking, she became a head cook at Hardees of Hemingway, SC for several years, before transferring to Shady Rest of Johnsonville, SC.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Jamil “Pooh” (Hernena) Nesmith of Conway, SC; three daughters, Whitney “Mussy” Nesmith of the home, Naijah Nesmith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dominique “Nina” Nesmith of Columbia, SC; two grand-children, Ja’Quan McCrea and Eileen “Lele” Nesmith; three sisters, Priscilla “Ayesha” Wilson of Hemingway, SC, Keshia Selph (Larry) of Johnsonville, SC, Lolita Gibson of Johnsonville, SC; one brother, Frederick “Raheem” (Jadene) Nesmith of Conway, SC; three aunts, Frances Leona “Sister” Selph of Hemingway, SC, Linda “Nancy” (Raymond) Grier of Newark, NJ, Amelia (Thomas) Fulton of Kingstree, SC; one uncle Robert (Betty) Brown of Newark, NJ, a special uncle Johnny (Dianne) Lewis of Hemingway, SC; four nieces, Sakinah (John) Poston, Shannon Nesmith, Montiera Davis, Kiley Ceaser; five nephews, Aqueel Nesmith, Na’eem (Naim) Nesmith, Terril Wilson, Taron Wilson, Anthony Brooks; one God-son, Edgar “Booya” Selph; one God-daughter, Jamillah Jackson-Crawford; a special friend, Roosevelt Cooper; many cousins and friends.
